Focus and Scope
We are interested in topics which relate generally to Law and justice in Indonesia and around the world. Articles submitted might cover topical issues in :
1. Civil Law
Civil Law deals with the rights and obligations between individuals or private parties. It covers areas like contracts, property, family relationships, and obligations when someone suffers harm (tort law).
2. Criminal Law
Criminal Law concerns actions considered harmful to society as a whole and defines offenses like theft, assault, and murder. It sets punishments for those crimes and is enforced by the state.
3. Civil Procedural Law
Civil Procedural Law governs how civil cases are processed through the courts. It includes rules about filing lawsuits, presenting evidence, appealing decisions, and enforcing judgments.
4. Criminal Procedure Law
Criminal Procedure Law regulates the steps through which criminal proceedings must pass. It covers procedures like investigation, arrest, trial, sentencing, and appeals, ensuring the rights of the accused are protected.
5. Commercial Law
Commercial Law (or Business Law) relates to the laws that govern business and commercial transactions. It includes issues like company contracts, the sale of goods, banking, insurance, and bankruptcy.
6. Constitutional Law
Constitutional Law studies the structure, functions, and limits of government as defined by a constitution. It deals with issues like human rights, separation of powers, and the functioning of institutions like Parliament and the Presidency.
7. International Law
International Law governs the relations between different countries. It includes treaties, international agreements, human rights laws, and laws of war and peace.
8. State Administrative Law
State Administrative Law concerns the activities of government agencies and public officials. It ensures that their actions comply with the law and offers mechanisms for individuals to challenge governmental decisions (for example, through administrative courts).
9. Adat Law
Adat Law refers to the traditional laws and customs indigenous to local communities in Indonesia (and some other regions). It often governs personal relationships, land use, inheritance, and social behavior.
10. Islamic Law
Islamic Law (Sharia) is the body of law derived from the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Hadith). In Indonesia, Islamic Law is recognized mainly in family law, inheritance, and religious charitable foundations (wakaf).
11. Agrarian Law
Agrarian Law deals with land ownership and land rights. In Indonesia, it includes matters like land reform, property titles, land disputes, and the use and management of natural resources tied to land.
12. Environmental Law
Environmental Law includes rules and regulations aimed at protecting the environment. It covers topics such as pollution control, conservation of natural resources, sustainable development, and climate change mitigation.
